May 1, 2026 to May 1, 2026
Connected for Change Finance, HR & Strategy Day will bring together a community of collaborators to build capacity for nonprofits. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with nonprofits to create solutions to a pressing challenge that their organization is facing right now! We have projects available in multiple functions in one day - Finance, HR, & Strategy project types are available. Please read through all the projects to find the best fitting one for your skills. Any individual interested in using their skills to help support a nonprofit can sign up to be a volunteer, or as we call it, a pro bono consultant. You will join a team of up to three other individuals to work together for a 1-day virtual event to tackle a challenge put forward by a local nonprofit.
The commitment:
- Pre-work: (1) Attend or watch 30-minute training on 04/08 12:00 pm, (2) participate in a up to 60-minute scoping call with your volunteer team and nonprofit to get acquainted and to finalize the scope of the project & agenda for the Connected day, call scheduled at some time between 04/10 - 04/24 based on team's availability.
- Virtually attend Connected for Change HR Day on Friday, May 1st, from 9 am - 3 pm Central Time
Each team of volunteers is comprised of:
- 1 Project Lead - They are responsible for scheduling a scoping call before the day of the event. During both the scoping call and the day, they help facilitate the meeting, guiding the team through the agendas, keeping folks on task and conversation flowing, inclusive of all voices. Project leads do not need to have expertise in all aspects of the challenge but rather have strong leadership and facilitation skills.
- 2-3 Pro Bono Consultants - Pro bono consultants give their time and expertise to the challenge, supporting the nonprofit and team in finding a solution and working toward the agreed-upon deliverable.
- Commonly needed volunteer skillsets include, but are not limited to:
- FINANCE: Cost Benefit Analysis, Financial Modeling and Forecasting, Revenue Diversification, Financial Reporting & Dashboards, Financial Systems Assessment & Development
- HR: HR Strategy, DEI, Employment Strategy, Legal Compliance, Organizational Design, Recruitment, Talent Management, Employment Law, Training & Development
- STRATEGY: Business Plan, Internal Capacity Assessment, Program Evaluation, Project Management, Scenario Building, Strategic Planning Prep, Strategic Scorecard, and SWOT Analysis
