Mission Statement:
Our mission is to facilitate (through education, collaboration, funding, and volunteerism) a sustainable source of income for deserving women in communities of Latin America where there exist unbroken cycles of poverty and gender inequality.


Organization’s Challenge: Nancy Alvarado, the Executive Director (ED) of Bricks to Bread has built robust organization with a proven model for programming. Their next stage of evolution is to change the operations from a founder-driven model to a full participating staff adopting shared systems responsibilities for sustainable existence. As the founder and the ED, Nancy is looking out for the long-term health of the organization and knows she holds an excess amount of tribal knowledge and understands she won’t be in the role forever. While not planning to leave soon she would like to begin building a succession plan now to ensure smooth transition when the time comes. With this she is planning to take a step back from running day-to-day operations. Nancy has begun work in re-visiting the ED job description and reviewing internal SOPs. Nancy is seeking to work with team to support planning out the steps for what is needed when a critical leadership role is changed. She wants to ensure she doesn’t have blind spots in the process. She wants to learn what the priorities are and how best keep the staff engaged and the board informed throughout the process. She hopes to have a phased actionable timetable plan that addresses key institutional knowledge.

2. Recommendations on best practices for timeline and where to engage stakeholders
3. Communication document to share with the board and staff on their responsibilities and expectations for the process
