Description

Volunteers spend time with individuals who have mild to moderate memory loss while their caregivers take a break or attend support groups and programs offered by the Center or others in the community.  Time commitment is flexible.

Volunteers provide socialization, meaningful activities and friendly visiting. Visits typcially  place in client’s home. 

The purpose and role of this position is to provide safe and nurturing support for the person with memory loss while giving their Caregiver (typically a spouse or family member) an opportunity to take a break from his/her care giving responsibilities. Provide visiting and activities that are meaningful and appropriate to the stage of memory loss. Memory Companion training session includes volunteer orientation and ongoing connection with Center Staff.
