Mentors Needed - Make a Difference in the Life of a Child or Teen!
Kids 'n Kinship is a local non-profit organization making successful mentoring matches for over 45 years in Dakota County. Individual, couple, and family mentors are needed to provide friendship to youth ages 5-16 in need of a positive role model. You can become a mentor in the community or at a school. Wednesday, December 19 from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Burnhaven Library, Burnsville
The Information Session is the place to hear about the children and teens who are waiting for mentors, the volunteer screening process, and the activities and benefits provided by Kids 'n Kinship. We schedule Information Sessions every few weeks, so if this date is not convenient, we'll plan a date and time that works for you.
Positive, caring role models are needed. As a volunteer community-based mentor you would get together with your matched mentee for an hour or two each week doing low cost or no cost activities like biking, playing catch, board games, drawing, going to the park, eating dinner together, and visiting the library.
School-based mentors help one student at a school for an hour each week. You might spend time on spelling words, reading, math, or enjoying lunch together. Kids 'n Kinship provides an orientation, home visit/screening, and support throughout the relationship.
Mentoring is fun and rewarding and you can make a huge difference in the life of a child - Young adults who face an opportunity gap but have a mentor are 55% more likely to be enrolled in college than those who did not have a mentor. (The Mentoring Effect)
