Project My Neighborhood is a Minnesota based non-profit that also battles bullying but we do so in a unique way. We are trying to break the world record for world’s largest toy battle and have a couple of events scheduled this summer. We are looking for a number of volunteers in order to make this event successful. Each volunteer shift will be about 3 hours total.
Proceeds of our summer events are going to the creation and launch of our bullying prevention app & securing a location for year long workshops.
Our events include inflatable paintball bunkers we use in an enclosed, safe, & family-friendly environment like a soccer field away from any natural objects that could harm our participants. We do a variety of games from tag to our most popular game we call Blaster Battles. Blaster Battles uses toy blasters that shoot foam projectiles in a series of competitions designed to reinforce our core values of inclusion, outreach, team building and health & wellness. All of these values are picked up from my experience in organized athletics from elementary school to college. During our events we also discuss 5 topics of bullying and relate them to the games we play which include, 1) Protect yourself, 2) You are not alone, 3)Overcoming Adversity, 4) Choices we make, & 5) Slippery slope teasing vs. bullying.
