Who We Are

Reading Partners is a national literacy tutoring nonprofit founded in 1999 that works in under-resourced elementary schools to support K-5 students who are reading six months to 2.5 years behind grade-level proficiency. In a dedicated reading center at each of our 8 Minneapolis-St. Paul partner schools or community centers, we train community volunteers to work one-on-one with students by following a structured curriculum that aligns with nationwide standards for learning.

What We Do

Make a lifelong impact on a child who struggles with reading.

●      No experience necessary.
●      Commit to volunteering as little as one hour a week!
●      Choose the school location that is right for you.
●      Become a mentor for a child in your community, building a lasting relationship and gaining a real understanding of their academic needs.
●      Hone your communication skills working one-on-one with a student and gain valuable experience in elementary education and literacy instruction.
●      Connect with fellow volunteers in your community.

Feel empowered to make a difference with tools and training from Reading Partners:

●      A highly effective, proven, and easy-to-follow curriculum.
●      In-person trainings and on-site support from our staff.
●      Flexibility to volunteer at times that work for your busy schedule.
●      Engage with your community in a new way!
