Who We Are
Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest (RAGOM) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes. For nearly 40 years, we’ve been powered by a passionate, multi-state network of volunteers who provide care, compassion, and expertise to dogs in need. RAGOM also fosters a strong and supportive community of adopters, fosters, donors, and advocates, united by a commitment to giving every dog the chance to thrive.
What We Do
RAGOM rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes from a wide variety of situations—including commercial breeding facilities, shelters, animal control, international rescue partners, and owner surrenders. Once in our care, each dog receives individualized veterinary and behavioral support, along with the safety and stability of a foster home. Beyond rescue, we champion animal welfare through education, outreach, and legislative advocacy promoting humane breeding and responsible dog ownership. We also build community through events such as Goldzilla, our annual fun fair and walk that draws the largest gathering of Golden Retrievers in the nation.
