Description

FINANCE PROJECT: Financial Reporting

Organization: Family Media Network
Website: Radio la Famille – radio la famille

Established: 2023    Number of Employees: 1-5

Mission Statement: Founded in 2023, Family Media Network (FAMEN) d.b.a Radio la Famille is a non-profit organization driven by the belief that community arts and participatory media practices play a vital role in immigrant inclusion and maintaining healthy communities. Family Media Network’s vision is to be an integrating, educational, inclusive, and healthy radio station where residents are actively engaged and fully informed; an environment where they can shape what happens in their community, participate in learning opportunities, and collaborate to creatively solve the problems that affect them.

Other details:  The organization supports immigrants in the Midwest, mostly French speaking Africans and Haitians, through educational sessions streaming on the radio station.

Organization’s Challenge: Ezekiel, the Executive Director, manages the organization’s finances through a platform called Manage and uses Excel spreadsheets to track data. The monthly entries are labor some and lack forecasting modeling.  He has a U of MN student volunteer that supports the operations of reporting but is still a novice themselves.  Ezekiel is seeking a team to collaborate with to build better reporting practices, create forecasting models for growth, and optimize the Manage resource.

Potential Deliverable(s):

1. Financial Recording Best Practices Recommendations
2. Financial Forecasting Modeling Tool
3. Manage platform optimization

Requested Volunteer Skill Sets: Financial Modeling & Forecasting. Financial Platform Support, Financial Systems Assessment, Reporting Tool/Dashboard Creation

1 Project Lead: They help facilitate the group work, guiding the team through the agendas, keeping folks on task and conversation flowing, inclusive of all voices. Project leads do not need to have expertise in all aspects of the challenge but rather have strong leadership and facilitation skills. Leads also help schedule the preparatory scoping call.
