Volunteer Opportunity: Nail Care Companions for Seniors

We’re looking for caring and friendly volunteers to bring a little sparkle and joy to our senior residents at Como Care Center, The Heritage Apartments, and our Lino Lakes facility. Your time and creativity can make a big difference by helping residents feel pampered and cared for through simple nail care and polish sessions.

In Lino Lakes this activity is known as Polish and Pamper. At the Como campus it's called Fancy Fingers. Whatever we call it, residents and volunteers love the activity!

What You’ll Do:

• Gently prepare residents’ nails for polishing
• Remove old nail polish with care
• File nails to smooth and shape (please note: no cutting of fingernails is allowed)
• Assist residents in choosing their next nail color — a fun way to express personality and brighten their day
• Apply fresh nail polish neatly and beautifully

Who We Are Looking For

Volunteers with

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with residents.
• Patience and compassion when interacting with individuals who may have varying physical and cognitive abilities.
• Tolerance to nail polish and remover odors.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate and careful nail care.

At the Como Care Center, Fancy Fingers occurs every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. At the Heritage Apartments it's every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. And at Lino Lakes, residents get polished and pampered Thursdays from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with residents, share smiles, and help them feel their best. No professional experience is required — just a kind heart, patience, and attention to detail.
