Keystone's Free Farmers Market - A Drive Thru Produce Distribution
Tasks: Your tasks will all be related to executing a free farmers market style event for Keystone participants. Food will be distributed via a drive-through model. As a volunteer, you will pack fruits and vegetables into bags, load bags into participants’ vehicles, assist with event logistics, and help create a welcoming environment for all guests! We expect to serve over 500 households.
Attire Details: Dress comfortably and take the weather into account as you prepare for the day! For food safety and your safety, please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes that cover your whole foot – not sandals or crocs. We recommend layers so you are prepared for anything! Please also bring a water bottle and sunscreen (Keystone will have extras of both available). This is a rain or shine event! We’re hoping for nice weather but please plan accordingly.
Interested volunteers should contact Sara Fleetham, Volunteer Engagement Manager, sfleetham@keystoneservices.org or 651-797-7725.
Food shelf visits in Minnesota have surged to record levels.
This dramatic increase reflects the growing strain on households as food costs
remain high and critical safety-net programs face uncertainty. In recent years,
as changes and challenges to SNAP benefits and other federal supports
were debated and implemented, food shelves experienced ripple effects, with an
even greater number of neighbors turning to charitable food assistance to
fill widening gaps.
