When a member of our Knute Nelson/Walker Methodist community passes away, our team members join family and friends in grieving the loss. Team members get to know and care about each of our residents and patients. They carry the memories of residents they’ve known and enjoyed with them for the rest of their lives.
We have traditions to honor a community member when they pass away. First, as a person leaves their Knute Nelson/Walker Methodist community for the last time, we wrap their body in a beautiful handmade quilt. We treat each person with the same care and respect we showed them while they were alive. We also have a tradition of giving a handcrafted, single quilt square to the family of a departed resident. A quilt square can serve as a memento of a loved one. Holding it or carrying it in a pocket can remind us of our loved one and the good times shared and can bring peace of mind and spirit.
