Make Your Voice Heard: It's time for Hunger-Free Schools. Join us Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 2:30 PM-3:30 PM for Second Harvest Heartlands first ever letter writing session for the Hunger-Free Schools campaign. We will be writing personal letters to legislators urging them to support the Governor’s proposal to invest in school meals for all students in Minnesota.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, students have been able to access meals at school for free. Studies show that free meals have increased academic success, improved physical and mental well-being, and fostered social solidarity by removing the stigma. But this program is set to end this school year.
We must urge our local representatives to invest in hunger free schools, because kids cannot learn when they are hungry. Let your local representative know why fighting child hunger in Minnesota schools is important to you. Learn more about this campaign and other actions you can take on our Hunger-Free Schools Campaign page.
All letter-writing materials and templates will be provided by Second Harvest Heartland. As a volunteer, you're already a hunger advocate- take your commitment a step further by telling your legislators why you support hunger free schools!
