This is a complex position that will support staff on the Mother Baby Post-Partum unit. Volunteers in this position will be cross-trained in nursery to offer additional support as needed.
Position Duties:
- Light administrative work such as putting folders together
- Set up room for vaginal delivery admission
- Bring supplies to patients (more diapers, pacifiers, ice water, max pads/mesh underwear, etc.)
- Infection control: sanitize high touch surfaces and family center rooms, ensure hand sanitizers are fully stocked, monitor that masks protocol is being followed by visitors.
- Round/sanitize wheel chairs when needed
- Transportation: assist with patient discharge, transport baby to and from mom following proper transportation guidelines
- Additional help in the Newborn Nursery as needed
Requirements/Prerequisites:
- 18 years or older
- 6 month commitment
- prior experience with newborns/infants
Time: Monday-Sunday 11am-2pm and 2pm-5pm
Training:
- Shadow nursery and/or experience volunteer at least twice before doing solo shift
- Annual Newborn Nursery Review
