Summary:

The Children’s Room Volunteer plays a key role in the administration and support of the Community Health department. While parents work with CLUES staff, the Children’s Room Volunteer provides enrichment activities related to the workshop topics for Spanish and English-speaking children, including games, literacy activities, art projects, and other activities.

 COVID-19 Guidelines masks are mandatory (even if fully vaccinated)

Position Type: Unpaid Volunteer Service 

Location: 797 East 7th Street, St.Paul MN 55106

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in classroom supervision of all participating children.
  • Lead activities in reading, arts & crafts, and group games.
  • Work cooperatively with children and families of diverse culture backgrounds. 

CLUES reserves the right to terminate an internship or volunteer commitment if behavior is not in compliance with CLUES policies.  

Qualifications:

Qualification Requirements:

  • Verbal communication skills in Spanish preferred. 
  • Be flexible, reliable, punctual and a positive role model for children. 

Requirements & Trainings:

  • Attend an initial training/interview with the Program Coordinator. 
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background check.

 

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • passion and patience working with children

Language Skills:

  • Effective communication in English and Spanish), both verbally and in writing, required.
