This opportunity takes place in Maplewood at 1140 Gervais Ave on July 8th from 9-11am.
Second Harvest Heartland distributes boxes of groceries each month to over 9,000 low-income seniors. Volunteers pack all 9,000+ boxes with nutritious items like cereal, juice, canned fruits, meat, and grains, on our assembly line! These groceries provide an important supplemental resource to Minnesotans struggling to attain sufficient amounts of nutritious food.
This is a fast-paced volunteer position that requires volunteers are able to twist and bend down, stand for several hours and lift up to 5 pounds. Some positions require the ability to lift 35 pounds.
To volunteer you must be 18 and up and your temperature must be less than 100 degrees. You must be illness-free including COVID19 or Influenza A or B. Have you been within 6 feet of individuals that do not live in your household for more than 15 minutes? If not, you are able to volunteer. If these individuals were wearing masks, you are able to volunteer. If not, you cannot volunteer for 14 days from date of potential exposure.
