Front Desk Volunteer
J-HAP, a non-profit serving a community of independent adults with developmental disabilities, is seeking new volunteers for our front desk at the Cornerstone Creek apartment building. One of the central objectives of J-HAP is ensuring a front desk presence in order to help tenants feel secure and supported. We are looking for friendly faces who are comfortable monitoring the front door, answering phones, and chatting with our awesome tenants. Duties:
- Staff the front desk, monitoring the front door and our security camera system
- Interact with tenants and ensure the front desk is a space they feel comfortable at
- Greet visitors and ask that they sign in and out
- Answer the phone and direct calls to the appropriate J-HAP staff
- Accept and log all deliveries
- Report security concerns or incidents to J-HAP staff
- Other small projects (mailings, stapling, etc.) as needed
Skills:
- Friendly and personable disposition
- Observant and able to make independent judgment calls
- Ability to answer and transfer phone calls
- Interest in serving a thriving community of adults with developmental disabilities
Time Commitment:
- Option 1: Regular 2 to 3 hour shift once a week between 10 am and 6 pm on weekdays
- Option 2: Fill-in open shifts, with a commitment of at least one shift a month
Training:
- Front desk policy and practices orientation
- Shadow one shift with a staff member
