Event Overview:
More than 100,000 refugees have made Minnesota their home over the past 40 years. Honor their journey by being a part of Twin Cities World Refugee Day! Whether by welcoming guests, assisting participants or engaging with children at the activities tent, you can join this growing celebration and help all participants feel at home.
We are looking for friendly, energetic and team-oriented volunteers! People of all backgrounds and levels of knowledge about refugee issues and cultures are welcome to participate.
Volunteer tasks include:
- Set-up Crew: Help set up tables, tents, and other equipment
- Traffic Controller: Help festival-goers safely cross the roadways surrounding TCWRD
- Greeter: Welcome festival-goers, direct them to the information booth, answer questions (multi-lingual skills are beneficial)
- Information Booth: Provide information about the event to guests, pass out event "travel documents", etc.
- Resource Fair Guides: Assist Resource Fair participants with registration and set-up and help guests find the resources they're looking for
- Hospitality Tent Assistant: Aid the performers and events team with their needs at the rest tent
- Cultural Stage Assistant: Help transition between performers, make sure program runs smoothly, assist DJ when needed
- Children's Activities Tent Attendant: Maintain order and traffic control at children's area, assist children with art projects and activities
- Tear-down Crew: Help clean up the park and take down all equipment
Time frame - 2 hour intervals
- Set up (12-2pm)
- During event (1:45-4pm), 3-5pm, 4:45-7pm)
- Tear down (7 - 9pm)
- All Day
