Description

Purpose

  • The Unregulated Kitting Assistant Volunteer is important to the American Red Cross Blood Services mission by helping to ensure blood drives receive the supplies needed to safely, efficiently and effectively collect blood and blood products.

Commitment

  • Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 4 hours a week over a period of 6 months. Must have daytime availability at least one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Open snack totes, sort all contents into appropriate bins, and discard trash or damaged items. Rotate stock as necessary using FIFO method.
  • Assemble small kitted "subassemblies" to be used in totes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Willingness to support the American Red Cross Mission.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Friendly, courteous and enjoy working cooperatively with other volunteers and staff.
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Minimum 16 years of age

Training

  • American Red Cross Blood Services Orientation 
  • On-the-job Training & Supervisor Approval
