The event begins at 9:00 am. Proceeds from the race entry fees will be donated to Freshwater Society and ICA Food Shelf.
An intrepid group of canoe and kayak enthusiasts staged an inaugural race five years ago, and the participants knew it could become a great event, so they approached the Brewery about sponsorship. “A race on Lake Minnetonka will be beautiful, fast and fun” according to John Klick, EBC President. The event grew to include a standup paddle board (SUP) category, pre-event yoga on the beach and post-event log-rolling! In 2017, the festivities attracted 225 participants who celebrated at the Brewery afterwards.
According to Race Director Rick Carter, this year’s race will be capped at 250 registrations, with plans to grow the event each year. “Our goal is to get paddlers of all ages out on Lake Minnetonka for a great community event,” says Rick. The course will be patrolled by boats from the Hennepin County Sheriff Water Patrol and Power Squadron volunteers.
