The Minnesota Fringe Festival is an 11-day performing arts festival in the Twin Cities Metro. Over 120 companies perform in 17 different venues for a total of over 650 performances! Volunteers help us run box offices, usher, and assist with crowd control.
Each year, more than 300 volunteers step up to cover over 3,000 volunteer shifts over the span of 11 days (that’s over 4,200 hours!). These volunteers ensure performances run on schedule while keeping our patrons happy. Yeah, it’s pretty incredible. Simply put, we couldn’t do this festival without volunteers.
When you join Fringe as a volunteer, you put yourself at the heart of what makes this festival tick. You’ll gain valuable experiences, make tons of new friends, and contribute to making our festival one of the best in the world. If knowing that isn’t enough, then we’ll throw in some perks and swag.
There are a variety of jobs to choose during the festival, all within the world of front-of-house. Once you register, you will be notified when its time to sign up for orientation and select shifts.
Group Volunteering
Together is better - and volunteering at Fringe is no exception. If you are looking to sign up your group of friends, artists, neighbors, co-workers, or book club members for a day of volunteering together, just email Volunteer Services at volunteer@fringefestival.org.
Age Requirements
Fringe welcomes anyone 12 years of age and up as part of our volunteer team.
12-15 years old:You may volunteer as an usher at any of our age-appropriate shows. You will need to volunteer with a parent, guardian and/or other responsible adult. Both of you will need to submit separate volunteer registration forms--ensure you list each other on the form. Finally, you and your parent/guardian will need to sign a festival waiver form for you to participate.
16-17 years old:You may volunteer as an usher, box officer or sidekick jobs at any of our age-appropriate shows. You and your parent/guardian will need to sign a festival waiver form for you to participate.
18 years old & up:You may volunteer in any of our front-of-house positions. You will need to sign a festival waiver form to participate.
