Position Summary
The Museum Operations Intern will assist with the daily tasks essential to running a large and diverse customer service department in a fast paced nonprofit environment. The Intern will work directly with an experienced leadership team, participating in department leadership meetings and coordinating projects and information for front line Visitor Experience staff. Duties may include running sales and admission reports, assisting with staff scheduling, updating spreadsheets and other administrative tasks. The intern will have the opportunity to develop stronger organizational, communication, and time management skills in addition to learning management principles.
Major Job Accountabilities
This is an estimate of the duties to be included in this internship. The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of the Visitor Services Manager or Coordinator.
- Assist with administrative tasks including but not limited to updating spreadsheets and documents for tracking training and school group arrivals, injury reporting data entry and assisting with front line staff communication channels.
- Oversee Member Check-In on Saturday mornings, working directly with our visitors providing excellent customer service. This includes training and coaching volunteers who facilitate check in, assisting with capacity management as needed, evaluating this process and providing feedback regarding opportunities for improving this service.
- Complete and distribute weekly and monthly department reports, including admissions, sales and over/short reports.
- Attend and participate in department meetings focused on leadership skills and team development, attend other relevant meetings as available.
- Other duties as assigned.

Schedule
Saturday mornings required January through mid-April. Other shifts can be scheduled at intern's convenience.
