Be part of the creation of a brand new, large-scale public artwork - help Caponi Art Park prepare for the 2026 Sound Garden.
There are three different volunteer opportunities available:
Event Installation Technician
This role is for anyone who wants hands-on experience with the technical side of a working art installation.
- Help install the distributed speaker system across the wooded site
- Support technical event production: sound checks, troubleshooting playback, coordinating setup and strike
- Work directly alongside the artist's technical team and learn how a site-specific spatial audio installation actually comes together
- Collaborate as part of a small, focused crew
- Spend time outdoors

Exhibit Guide / Front of House
This role is for someone who enjoys helping other people slow down and notice something they'd otherwise walk right past. Guides walk the trails during open hours, offering context to visitors making their way through the installation.
- Help visitors understand what they're hearing and why no two listening experiences are the same
- Share the story behind the piece — the artist, the technology, and the site's own ecological restoration
- Collaborate as part of a welcoming, low-key team
- Spend time outdoors in a genuinely immersive, melodic space

Workshop Assistant
This role is for anyone drawn to teaching, mentoring, or simply enjoys being creative alongside other people. Workshop assistants support the natural sculpture workshop, helping participants of all ages and skill levels create pieces that become part of the finished Sound Garden.
- Assist with tools and materials, with guidance from the lead teaching artist
- Help guide participants of all ages through the sculpture-making process
- Spend time outdoors in a hands-on creative space
- Gain real experience supporting teaching artists and arts education
