AFC’s youth program engage in peer-led activities that aid in the development of career, leadership, advocacy, organizing, and wellness skills. This training takes place in the kitchen, garden, classroom, and even in the music studio. AFC’s youth are paid for their participation in the YTOP program as they learn farming, culinary, and entrepreneurial skills while increasing their positive social connections and developing their emotional well-being.
Breakfast kits are a priority for our youth group as we are trying to feed 15 youth every week. These are items that the youth team listed as priorities:
- cereal
- granola
- granola bars/breakfast bars
- oatmeal
- shelf stable milks
- dried fruit or nuts and seeds
- pancake/waffle mix
- syrup/honey/jams or jellies
- peanut, chickpea or sun butter
- 100% juice
- apple sauces
- fruit cups
- eggs
- bacon
- fresh fruit
