We are looking for volunteers to join us at the State Fair for a unique volunteer opportunity!
Our organization is across the street from the State Fair grounds and on the first day of the fair (Thursday August 27, 2026) we accompany our residents from Lyngblomsten Care Center to the fair for a few hours.
Here is some important things to know:
- Time commitment for volunteers is from 8am to noon. We can talk about car pooling options.
- You will receive a free ticket to the fair that day and can stamp your hand to return later.
- Each resident will be vetted by nursing staff to make sure they are well to go.
- Each resident will be transported by wheelchair.
- Residents will travel within groups of 10 based on interests of what they desire to see at the fair. The groups will be as follows: 2 Staff/4 Volunteers/4 residents.
- Training will be held from 8am to 9am for all volunteers and volunteers will meet inside the entrance of the care center.
- Those volunteers willing to attend must be able to push a wheelchair with a resident who could be up to 200lbs.
