Job Description:               Wishes & More is seeking a passionate and motivated intern to assist the Wish Department in a variety of wish-granting tasks, with a focus on outreach to local hospitals and organizations. This intern will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector and directly impact the lives of children facing terminal and life-threatening illnesses.

 

Time Commitment:        Weekly commitment of 8-12 hours per week

 

Responsibilities:

 

1.      Outreach:

·         Contact hospitals to gather up-to-date social worker contact information for our network

·         Develop and implement an outreach project with the goal of engaging hospital staff and promoting Wishes & More’s unique programs

·         Reach out to a list of related organizations/charities to offer updated Wishes & More brochures/materials

·         Expand outreach by researching and identifying new organizations to engage with

 

2.      Other wish related tasks as assigned:

·         Send and follow up on medical forms

·         Input and make updates to wish records in Salesforce

·         Partake in wish interviews with a seasoned volunteer

·         Prepare wish budgets

·         Collect and compare bids for purchase of gift items

·         Create wish trip itinerary packets

·         Plan wish enhancements to make the wish experience more unique and special

·         Plan wish reveals to let the child know their wish is coming true

 

Preferred Skillsets: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, organized, attentive listening, comfortable making phone calls, excellent oral and written communication, ability to work independently, career interest in non-profit organization or social work, willing to accept a variety of tasks with a positive attitude.
