Join Our Saviour’s Housing and Our Saviour’s Community Services in a crucial effort to relocate our emergency shelter to our newly renovated permanent location!
We are urgently looking for volunteers to assist with packing up our emergency shelter at 2545 Portland Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404 and organizing to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to our permanent location 2219 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
We also need your help to ensure a smooth transition as we unpack and set up our emergency shelter in its permanent location at 2219 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN, 55404. Your support will be vital in getting our renovated shelter, donation rooms, kitchen, pantry, and individual rooms ready for our guests.
What You'll Be Doing:
Labeling Items: Clearly label boxes and containers to make the unpacking process easier.
Color Coding Boxes: Use color-coded labels to categorize items for easy identification, organization, and identifying guests’ belongings.
Packing Various Rooms: Pack up the donation room, lobby, guest rooms etc. making sure everything is ready to go for the movers.
Assisting Guests: Support guests in packing their personal belongings in their rooms, offering a helping hand and a friendly face.
Unpacking Donation Rooms: Carefully unpack and organize donated items to make them easily accessible to staff and guests.
Kitchen and Pantry: Unpack and set up kitchen supplies, fridge & freezer items, and pantry items, ensuring everything is in its proper place.
Guest Rooms: Assist guests in unpacking their personal belongings and help them get settled into their new rooms.
General Organization: Lift up to 30 lbs., organize, and arrange items to ensure everything is neatly and efficiently set up.
Time Commitment: 2-hour shifts, you are welcome to stay longer if you would like.
Location: Please note the separate locations for different shifts. Some shifts will take place at our permanent location on Chicago Avenue, and some will take place at the temporary location on Portland Avenue.
What to Bring: Comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and a willingness to work.
Ideal For: This role is perfect for both individuals and groups eager to contribute to a meaningful cause. Your efforts will directly support our mission to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all guests in the temporary emergency shelter location.
How to Sign Up: To volunteer, please view our signup website for available shifts. The Volunteer Coordinator or Development and Communications Manager will check in with all volunteers signed up for each date to confirm the activities scheduled for that date.
