Rondo Days is an annual festival held the 3rd Saturday in July in Saint Paul that commemorates the Rondo neighborhood, an African American community whose main streets were destroyed by the construction of I-94 in the mid-1960s. The festival has grown since its inception in 1983, by co-founders Floyd G. Smaller and Marvin R. Anderson, to become the largest African American sponsored festival in Minnesota. MCM is partnering with 825 Arts to be in charge of the "the tot spot" for Rondo Day.
We will give a very brief orientation to each volunteer on the day and are looking for 6 Volunteers to help with the following:
We will give a very brief orientation to each volunteer on the day and are looking for 6 Volunteers to help with the following:
- Greet visitors and introduce the arts and crafts activities and games, help maintain supplies and our tabling area, engage visitors using museum guidelines, and assist the Program facilitators in running special programs. Help keep the tot area both clean and functional, redirecting large families and crowds to clear walkways.
- Engage with visitors, talking with children and families and encourage them to visit the Museum.
- As always, feel free to have fun with the tasks and PLAY.
If you are interested in volunteering, please reply by email with which shift/s you will be available for. Preference will be given to those available for more than one shift but please reply if you are interested and we will get back to you!
Volunteer shift times available on Saturday, July 19th. 2 volunteers are needed for each shift:
- Shift 1: 11am-2pm
- Shift 2: 2pm-5pm
- Shift 3: 5-8pm (includes take down at 7pm)
Parking/Transit:
- Please meet us at the space a few minutes before the start of your shift. If driving, street parking will be available near the event. If taking transit, we will be able to give you transit tokens. If you need help finding us at the event, please call 651-225-6048.
