Do you have a passion for art and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults? Join Lyngblomsten's Lifelong Learning & the Arts program as an Art with You Bedside Support Volunteer and bring the joy of creativity and companionship directly to residents who are unable to leave their rooms.
As a volunteer, you'll engage in one-on-one art-making sessions, offering a variety of projects and using your creativity to adapt activities to individual interests and needs. Share your love of art and create meaningful connections!
Your Role:
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on art sessions with individual residents at their bedside.
- Offer a selection of art projects to spark creativity.
- Build rapport with residents, even those who may initially be hesitant.
- Be patient, understanding, and flexible in your approach
We're Looking For Individuals Who Are:
- Passionate about the positive connection between art and well-being.
- Able to work independently while being a supportive team member.
- Patient, adaptable, and empathetic to the needs of older adults.
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 2 hours per week, visiting 2–3 residents.
- Resident lists and guidance provided by the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator.
Training & Support:
- Comprehensive 2-hour orientation and initial training provided, including shadowing a teaching artist.
- Ongoing support through bi-monthly 2-hour team meetings and additional training opportunities.
