Description

Hope for the Journey Home Family Shelter is a place of hospitality providing up to 7 families at a time temporary emergency shelter while permanent housing is sought. Volunteers provide a welcoming presence to families while serving dinner, and or serving as an overnight host.

Assist with meal preparation, serving dinner to shelter guests and cleaning up kitchen. Engage in conversation and after dinner activities with guests (5pm-7 or 7:30 pm nightly).

2 volunteers are needed each evening. View and sign up for shifts here.

Supervision and Training:

In person orientation training provided at the beginning of each volunteer opportunity. Support staff present during all dinner shifts. 2 overnight volunteers present.

All volunteers age 18 and older must complete a criminal background check and complete safe environment training prior to volunteering. Training can be completed online. For information related to training reach out to Hope for the Journey Home at pbrokman@guardian-angels.org or 651-503-3380.
