Join Great River Greening at Quarry Park to girdle aspen trees. This management technique involves cutting through the outer bark in a ring in order to prevent further growth, without the use of herbicide. The aspen trees are encroaching onto the wet prairie areas in the park, which is adjacent to the large-scale buckthorn removal happening in the oak woodland. Next year, Great River Greening will return to restore the oak woodland using hand seeding methods.

This event will coincide with the Stearns County Kids in the Parks Festival! Bring the family and after you volunteer, you will be able to enjoy these festivities as well. This is a family-friendly event. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary, we will provide the tools and training required.

There will be light snacks and extra water available, however, please bring your own reusable water bottle and any additional snacks or lunch items you may need.

Once you have registered via GivePulse, organizers from Great River Greening will approve your registration and you will receive confirmation. You will continue to receive event reminders as the event nears.
