Description

Make a Meaningful Difference in the Life of a Child!

Kids 'n Kinship is a local non-profit organization making successful mentoring matches for over 45 years in Dakota County.

We are seeking volunteers (age 21+) who would like to mentor one student a half-hour per week, during the school day through Kids ‘n Kinship’s school-based mentoring program in Apple Valley, Eagan, or Rosemount. You could work on spelling words, math, reading, a science project, journaling, or enjoy lunch together! Training and support are provided. Everyone interested in learning more is invited to attend an Information Session.

The Information Session is the place to hear about the children who are waiting for mentors, the volunteer application process, and activities and benefits provided by Kids ‘n Kinship. We have Information Sessions every few weeks during the day/evening/weekends, so if this date is not convenient, we’ll plan a date and time that works for you.

Mentoring is fun and rewarding and you can make a positive impact in the life of a child - Young adults who face an opportunity gap but have a mentor are 55% more likely to be enrolled in college than those who did not have a mentor. (The Mentoring Effect)

“People choose to be mentors for different reasons.  I really didn’t know what to expect when I chose to become a Mentor.  But I can say that I am so incredibly grateful for the richness it has added to my life.  All it has required of me is patience, consistency, and love.” - from a Mentor.
