Description

High Tech Kids works hard within Minnesota to develop an interest and ability in kids to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and careers. Every year, over 900 volunteers reach children at an age when they make decisions (grades 3 - 9) that impact and enable these future citizen to be technologically literate.

The types of Judges that need to be staffed at this tournament are: Teamwork(Core Values) 4 Slots open, and Research Project 4 slot open.

Research Project Judges assess the quality of the research project related to the theme of the season. This years theme is about living in Space. The teams have to identify an issue that is social or physical that an astronaut would encounter during an extended period of time in space (defined as longer than 1 year). Then the teams will come up with a creative solution to the problem. The teams will have 5 minutes to present and then the judges have 10 minutes to interview the teams and ask follow up questions.

Teamwork Judges consider the teamwork skills and dynamics that teams have worked on. The Judges will observe teams completing a short activity to see how they communicate with one another and then get to interview the team members and ask questions about what they contributed to the team.

You are not required to have knowledge of space to participate. You will also be paired with another volunteer to train you in.

If you are interested in this role, please contact Kendra at kendra@hightechkids.org or visit https://hightechkids.org/volunteer for more information. This role is trained.
