Who We Are

The Bridge for Youth is a nonprofit in Minneapolis, Minnesota that provides short term housing for youth aged 10-17 experiencing homelessness, or who have run from the home. Other services also include, Transitional Housing, Independent Living, 24/7 crisis calls and text line, family counseling and aftercare services.

What We Do

Across Minnesota, an estimated 6,000 young people are homeless and on their own on any given night. And the problem continues to grow.

Since 1970, The Bridge has offered emergency shelter, counseling and supportive programs in a safe and welcoming place, giving these young people both hope for their future and a path to get there. The Bridge for Youth is dedicated to providing the connection between the current realities of homelessness and a brighter, safer, more stable future.

With a dedicated staff and strong support from the community, we help hundreds of youth get off the street, into safe shelter, and on to a better life. Our welcoming, residential setting is unique among programs for runaway and homeless youth, providing services at no charge, 24/7/365.

Each year we serve more than a thousand young people and families with a continuum of free services, including:

  • 24-hour crisis call and text hotline
  • Emergency shelter for youth 10-17
  • Extended stay shelter for youth ages 16 and 17
  • Transitional housing for youth 18-21
  • Weekly, drop-in support groups
