Who We Are
Urban Roots is a Saint Paul organization whose mission is to cultivate and empower youth through nature, healthy food, and community. Since 1997, Urban Roots has provided paid internships to youth on the East Side of Saint Paul. Youth interns develop leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills through our Market Garden, Conservation, and Cook Fresh Programs.
What We Do
Each year, up to 80 youth interns, ages 14-24, participate in our progressive, tiered programming, connecting to one another and to the world around them. We cultivate job skills, community involvement and healthy living through the lenses of urban farming, conservation, and cooking. Our youth program cares for our urban farm and parks in the summer. In the spring and fall we need volunteer groups to harvest, weed, remove invasive plants, and prep garden beds.
