Who We Are

PRISM is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1970 by community members responding to the basic needs of local individuals and families who were struggling to make ends meet. What started as a small community effort has since transformed into a strong organization that has a significant impact and an enduring commitment to its mission to provide social services and connections that empower people in our community to build healthy, stable lives. Practicing our agency’s core values of collaboration, innovation, dignity, and accountability, we believe all people have inherent strengths and abilities. With this foundation, we serve participants in a holistic manner. The continued generosity of the community, and our strong partnerships with funders and fellow nonprofits, enable us to meet the food, clothing, and housing needs for 5,500+ low-income children, adults, and seniors each year.

What We Do

PRISM relies on a team of over 500 volunteers annually to operate our thrift shop, food shelf, provide administrative support, and assist with events and seasonal programs. Volunteers must be over 16 without supervision, or over 12 with parental supervision. Groups opportunities are available but limited at this time. Please inquire if you are interested.
