Who We Are
Metro North ABE is a consortium of 8 school districts across the northern Twin Cties metro area. Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a free statewide education program that helps adults achieve their educational and personal goals. Adults, ages 17 and older, can attend English as a Second Language classes, basic reading, writing, and math classes, and GED® preparation classes, to name a few. Adults can take day or evening classes to accommodate their busy schedules and lives. Licensed teachers instruct our classes, and trained volunteers assist them. Our consortium support ensures we have the best of ABE to offer our learners.
Our volunteers ensure our learners receive ample support in the classroom and provide the teachers with more skills to share. Our volunteers receive thorough training and on-going support in the classroom they volunteer and from the volunteer services office.
Call or email today to schedule an orientation and learn more about volunteering as a tutor with Metro North ABE. Any level skill and strength is welcome!
