Companions / Caregivers offer service to others to maintain the highest level of dignity and independence by:
- Being a friend who listens and offers encouragement
- Providing non-medical support - helping an older adult run errands, get to medical appointments, go grocery shopping, etc.
- Sharing hobbies and interests such as playing cards, having a meal, going for a walk or doing a puzzle
- Providing a break for family caregivers
Foster Grandparents provide one-on-one mentoring a few hours a week to at-risk youth by:
- Tutor students who have or are at risk of falling behind in the classroom
- Use compassion to support and mentor students
- Use your time ans skills to boost the self-esteem of at risk students
