Who We Are
Who We Are: Black Prism Productions
At Black Prism Productions, we are more than just a theatre company; we are a movement dedicated to uplifting BIPOC and LGBTQ communities through the power of storytelling. Our mission is to create a platform where diverse voices are not only heard but celebrated, fostering an inclusive space that reflects the vibrant tapestry of human experience.
Our Mission:
We are committed to producing thought-provoking works that shine a light on the rich narratives of Black and queer lives. Through our productions, we aim to challenge societal norms, spark meaningful conversations, and inspire change. We strive to empower underrepresented artists and storytellers, providing them with the resources and opportunities to bring their visions to life.
Our Vision:
We envision a world where art and culture are accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance. In addition to our focus on performance, we are dedicated to supporting low-income families and homeless individuals within our community. Through outreach programs, workshops, and collaborative events, we aim to provide resources and opportunities for those in need, fostering a sense of belonging and hope.
At Black Prism Productions, we believe that theatre can be a catalyst for change. By uplifting marginalized voices and addressing social issues, we aspire to create a more equitable and compassionate society. Join us on this journey as we illuminate stories that matter and work towards a brighter future for all.
What We Do
Black Prism Productions is a nonprofit arts collective dedicated to creating powerful, inclusive theater that uplifts Black and LGBTQ+ voices through storytelling, performance, and community engagement. We produce original works that center the experiences of marginalized communities, blending music, movement, and narrative to spark conversation, healing, and joy. Our mission is to use the stage as a platform for social change—developing grassroots productions that provide opportunities for emerging artists, activists, and creatives from underserved communities. We are committed to collaboration, equity, and representation in every aspect of our work—from casting and production to audience engagement. Our first original musical, Black and Proud, celebrates the resilience, complexity, and beauty of Black queer identity and will debut in Minneapolis in 2026. We're currently building our volunteer production team and seeking passionate individuals to help bring this movement to life.
