The Rondo Center of Diverse Expression's (RCODE) fundamental aim is to rekindle the spirit of Rondo and preserve its heritage and values. We do this by providing administrative and operational responsibility for the Rondo Commemorative Plaza, the nation’s first public memorial to a BIPOC neighborhood destroyed by the construction of the interstate highway system, by operating the Rondo Research Collection (RRC), managing the Rondo Center Community Gardens (RCCG) and delivering the programming of RCODE.
The goals of RCODE are threefold: 1) to celebrate history, cultural creativity, and the importance of the arts, 2) to inspire diverse people to find common ground in the Rondo corridor, and 3) to bring people together to build a trusting, robust, and engaging neighborhood. Derived from these is the organizational priority to preserve the unique cultural identity of the Rondo community.
