Who We Are
Peace House Community (PHC) nourishes its members’ bodies and souls by providing a safe space for everyone. PHC enriches the lives of its members, volunteers and students by offering a place to belong for everyone who comes through its doors.
What We Do
Peace House Community is a small community center/day center serving the Ventura Village neighborhood in south Minneapolis Monday-Friday from 9:30a-2:30p. Our community members live in the neighborhood and face economic instability, housing uncertainty, social isolation, stigmatization, and similar daily challenges. PHC counters these conditions by providing a safe, welcoming, and affirming community that gets to know its members as individuals.
PHC gives its community members the same experience that most people feel when they hang out in a friend's living room. There is always hot coffee, snacks and a hot lunch. There is no pressure, no need to justify oneself, no invasive questions. Coming to PHC means experiencing acceptance and a respite from the chaos of life on the streets.
PHC serves over 18,000 meals a year and provides a variety of services each day including bicycle repair, hand massages, haircuts, clothes mending and more. Most importantly, we provide a space for volunteers and community members to meet, establish relationships and share a common humanity.
