As a team of specialized doctors, nurses, home health aides, chaplains, volunteers and social workers, we work to inspire those we support. Our ultimate goal is to help our patients fully live each moment, through person centered approaches to care. This helps people arrive at a place of peace and comfort during the final stages of their life.
Hospice philosophy is not to hasten death nor prolong life, but to add quality to the time that our patients have left. In order to do this, we add to the services our patients are already receiving in their home and we personalize care to meet their ever changing needs as well as work with the family to help build trusting relationships.
As a volunteer we would ask that you share your skills and time interacting with patients. We have an eclectic group of people and would be able to match volunteers up with patients and their families who would appreciate your time and talents.
The Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to help find the most appropriate patient that would best benefit from your service while staying within your desired traveling distance.
Available opportunities include:
Spending time socializing with our patients, reading with or to patients, listening to music with our patients, doing puzzles, playing cards and board games with our people. Any activities that you and the patient can do together while maintaining safety, dignity and best possible health as priorities.
We welcome certified animals for pet visitations. Please note, they must be certified and have the documentation
Requirements:
To help ensure ultimate safety for our patients, requirements include filling out an application, references, fingerprinting and background check. Other requirements include ability to document visits and maintaining communication with the Volunteer Coordinator. There will be a volunteer group meeting every 3 months to help ensure community amongst volunteers and provide training and support.
Just as we welcome all patients that meet appropriate hospice requirements, we welcome everyone who can fulfill these requirements and have a desire to help support people during the end of life process.
