Who We Are

BareBones Puppets is a Minneapolis-based performing arts non-profit. BareBones is a collective of performing and visual artists which produces outdoor performances with stilting, fire, live music, and huge puppets.

Mission: To bring art into community and community into art through movement, puppetry and spectacle performance; creative re-use, education, and collaboration.

What We Do

We operate as a collective of visual and performing artists to create a public performance/ritual known as "The  Halloween Extravaganza." This performance is related to grief, death, ancestors, loss, and remembering, and is performed annually at the end of October and early November. The Extravaganza offers us and our communities the opportunity to name, mourn and honor the dead. We remember both the known and unknown dead, including the victims of neglect, police brutality and genocide. The Extravaganza is a way to turn our personal and collective loss and grief into community ritual and art. The Extravaganza provides us with a way to connect people through making and performing art!
