Mission Statement: Ten Thousand Things awakens the creative spirit of audiences and artists by bringing essential and exceptional theater to people from all backgrounds and life experiences.
Organization's Challenge:
Ten Thousand Things (TTT) is seeking support with a media and public relations assessment. Before the pandemic, TTT routinely sold-out performances with limited marketing, thanks to glowing reviews from numerous media outlets, robust local arts awards, and strong word-of-mouth in the theatre community. Since the pandemic, the local ecosystem has stopped its awards; traditional print media has cut back on coverage, and word-of-mouth is not rebuilding ticket sales at the rates they had hoped for. In addition, TTT’s media and public relations contractor of 18 years recently retired. She was their primary media contact and holder of relationships that are now transitioning into being held by staff. Staff feel confident in knowing their messaging around the plays they’re offering and why; as they shift into handling public relations themselves, they seek guidance around the best tools to use within the current media landscape. This would involve an assessment of their current communication operations, as well as recommendations around strategies and avenues they haven’t yet explored for reaching new audiences and revenue sources. They want to understand where to best focus efforts, ensuring that they’re pitching shows in the most effective way while honoring the bandwidth of the small staff.
