Mission StatementWe provide Fox Valley area nonprofits with opportunities for leadership development and learning to better achieve their missions.

Organization’s Challenge:

Nonprofit Leadership Initiative (NPLI) is seeking support developing a marketing strategy & tools to promote their “A Decade of Difference” fundraiser in which they aim to raise $10,000, which would unlock a $10,000 match.

NPLI, while being a program within the Community Foundation for Fox Valley Region, operates fairly independently, like its own nonprofit, and is responsible for raising their own operating and programmatic funds. But, because of their connection to the foundation, they have unique restrictions they need to follow for fundraising.

NPLI is run by a lean team of 3, two of whom are newer in their roles. Program & Communication Manager Andrea Peterson joined the team last November, taking over marketing, among other duties. NPLI has some marketing routines and assets (brand kit) already in place. For social media marketing NPLI posts mostly on FB and LinkedIn, seeing the best traction on LinkedIn, fitting for their target audience. The team aims to post 5 times a week, building content in Canva. Typical posts highlight their upcoming programs and events and spotlight what the team is working on. They also have Instagram and YouTube, which they use more sparingly. NPLI also has a quarterly newsletter, sent through WildApricot, and sends postal mail 3 – 4x a year.

Andrea is seeking support developing a marketing strategy for their Decade of Difference campaign. So far, Andrea has developed a campaign toolkit with copy and images, shared with their development committee, and has some social posts. She’d love support refining their key messaging, tailoring it for their various audiences (corporations, alumni, individuals). She’d also like support creating a content calendar and considering the strategy behind the differing marketing avenues, delving deeper into what channels to use when and at what cadence. Andrea knows their team has a lot of communication already going out, so she’s wanting support considering how this campaign fits into their broader communication strategy, ensuring it doesn’t get drowned out. Andrea is a self-taught marketer with a good deal of experience but is eager to learn more.

Given the current landscape, nonprofit leaders need a space to connect, network, learn and grow. NPLIs work touches thousands of nonprofit leaders and hundreds of organizations. At a time where there is a lot of need and appeals, NPLI is excited for support developing strategy and tools to promote their first ever big fundraising push.
