Who We Are
We believe in the power of creativity and one-on-one attention to change children’s lives.
Art Buddies pairs creative mentors with kids from high-needs schools to help them discover their creative abilities, believe in themselves, and dream of a brighter future.
Our creative mentors come from all sorts of professional fields, including advertising, architecture and design, as well as students. Anyone interested in creativity, working with kids and art is welcome!
Mentors share their time and talents to help children take pride in who they are, what they can do, and who they can become through the power of creativity.
What We Do
Since 1994, we've paired thousands of children from high-needs schools with thousands of creative adults. Art Buddies helps kids realize their creative potential, and discover that creativity can lead to a successful future.
We partner with urban elementary schools where most children come from low-income families. Our after-school programs are provided free for students ages 8-11. Programs occur every fall and spring semester, and we aim to recruit 150+ mentors for 150 kids.
Each creative volunteer works one-on-one with their child, which is so important—and so rare. Kids thrive on our mentors' one-on-one attention, and we love helping children realize their creative potential! Behavior improves, and friendships form!
