Wingspan Life Resources is a non-profit organization that offers residential care in group homes and In-Home programs to adults with developmental disabilities. For over 53 years, Wingspan has provided our clients with enriching living spaces, and the activities and experiences that make those spaces truly a home. We would not be able to accomplish this without our wonderful volunteers helping to keep our yards and landscapes looking pleasant and welcoming.


Interested in taking an hour or three to brighten someone’s season? We are very flexible on days, times, durations, and locations, and will try to match you with a group home location of highest need that works best for your travel time. ORGANIZATION SUMMARY: For nearly 50 years, Wingspan Life Resources has served people with developmental and other disabilities in the greater Twin Cities area. We offer residential care in 29 group homes and In-Home services for those living with family or independently. Our mission is “To inspire community by empowering people impacted by disabilities to live their best life.”

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Board Members will utilize personal and professional skills, relationships and knowledge for the advancement of Wingspan Life Resources. There is a 3-year commitment and duties include but are not limited to:

Attend Board orientation and a Program visit. Attend a majority of quarterly Board meetings (typically held on the third Thursday of the month). Prepare in advance for decision-making and policy formation at Board meetings; take responsibility for self-education on the major issues before the Board. Strategic planning with occasional task or committee work, special meetings, or training. Ensure strong fiduciary oversight and financial management. Responsibly review and act upon committee/task force recommendations brought to the Board for action. Actively seek to engage members of the community as volunteers and/or donors. Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission. Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action. Give a meaningful personal financial donation. Sponsor our Power of Love event with a goal of filling at least one table of 10. Attend at least one event sponsored by Wingspan each year which may include our Gala, Made In The Shade fundraising walk, Client Picnic, Client Holiday Party, Magnolia Ball, or other events.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Wingspan Life Resources is seeking individuals who have financial, legal, marketing, organizational development, volunteer resource, and fundraising experience to help expand the work of our nonprofit. Prior Board experience is a plus.  Women and persons of color are encouraged to apply.
