Volunteer: Outreach Visitors Needed for Older Adults (Age 18 +)

Provide socialization and emotional support to elderly individuals who are socially isolated, and/or have other special needs. Establish a consistent and supportive relationship with client by visiting client in his/her home, taking client out for social, recreational, or personal needs (shopping, appointments, etc.), and providing friendly companionship. Report to Senior Services Case Manager to update progress of relationship. Visit weekly or bi-weekly for 2-3 hours. Six-month commitment required. Visits take place in the client's home. Locations vary and include Minneapolis and suburbs. Experience working with older adults helpful but not required. Maturity and empathy required. Ability to work on a one-to-one basis with an older person.

Volunteer: Volunteer Drivers to Provide Rides to Appointments (Age 18 +)

Help clients of JFCS Senior Services and other programs as necessary, get to medical and other essential appointments; and for personal shopping through the Garber Transportation Program.

Garber Transportation volunteer drivers get to sign up for rides that work for their schedule and use their own car to pick up clients who need rides to appointments and errands.

Qualifications:

Volunteer should be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license and car insurance, and use their own vehicle. Volunteer to complete paperwork and pass reference check and background check as part of the onboarding process.
