Are you a people person who wants to enrich the lives of older adults? We are currently looking for gift shop attendants to support the general store on our Bloomington campus. Enrich the lives of older adults buy helping customers locate products to purchase that will help meet their needs.

Duties included: Providing positive customer service; Open and close shop; Stocking shelves as needed; Maintaining a welcoming shop appearance; Marking merchandise as needed. Requirements: Ability to register sales as instructed. Ability to converse with a variety of different personalities. Ability to provide positive customer service. Physical flexibility. Cheerful demeanor.

Shifts available Monday-Friday 10 am-12:00 pm. 

Are you a geek, enthusiast, expert, or fan of a particular topic, area, subject, or industry? Do you think our older adults might find you interesting? Our residents LOVE life-long learning and we are hoping to expand our offerings for them. To do this, we need volunteers to serve as subject experts and presenters to share their passions with our residents.

Seeking Piano player for Wednesday mornings spiritual care programming in our care center. Help residents feel closer to God as they sing and pray together. 

On our campus, we offer a full-continuum of housing and care levels from independent living to our care center. Volunteers enhance our residents ability to have freedom to live well while enriching their lives. 

We are currently looking for volunteers to help older adults in independent living and assisted living with reading books, magazines, letters, bulletins, etc. This will help them stay both independent and active in the community. 

Nothing brings joy to our residents like babies, puppies, and BINGO!!!

A summer BINGO caller is needed for Monday afternoons in our assisted living. Bingo is from 1-2 pm, volunteer would be asked to arrive shortly before bingo begins and may be asked to stay to help clean up.

You could come a create smiles... Many of our residents have their weekly salon appointment at one of our two salons on our campus, they look forward to it each week. We would love for you to be a part of their experience. Volunteers in the salon help with minor cleaning tasks, escorting of residents to and from their appointment when needed, and visit with residents as they wait. Sometimes they also, remove hair rollers, paint nails, and give hand massages.

Looking for volunteers to commit to a weekly shift. Available Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. Tuesdays and Thursdays are HIGH NEED!!!

Our residents love participating in activities scheduled throughout the day, such as, crafting, playing games, and having someone to share the activity with them. Consider spending time brightening someone's day with a fun past-time. This is a consistent, weekly, ongoing activity. A minimum of 1.5 hours per week. Activities occur in both our assisted living as well as within our care center floors and volunteers are welcome in all areas. If you enjoy working with older adults, we can find a spot for you. The local Trader Joe's nearest to our campus allows us to have flower arrangements and potted plants when they are past their prime date for being sold. They are brought to our campus and disassembled to allow our care center residents to make their our bouquets.

How do the flower get from Trader Joe's to our campus??? You.

Volunteer to be the person who pick up the floral donation from Trader Joe's and deliver it to us once a week (Saturdays between 9-11 am) - calling the store before picking them up to ensure that there are flowers available. Volunteer also replaces potted plants in our care center and prepares flowers to be assembled in bouquets by residents. If floral arrangements are your deal, stay a while and make some arrangements with residents to display in the care center.

Spiritual wellness is of great importance to many of the residents that choose to live at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington. Our campus is lucky enough to offer an array of spiritual care services, one of which being our Sunday afternoon Chapel Service. Volunteers make it possible for everyone who wishes to attend the service to be able to get to and from service.

Volunteers are needed from 2:30 to 4:30 pm every Sunday to help assisted living and/or care center residents get from their room/apartment to the Chapel and back to their room/apartment.

Volunteers must have balance and strength to push a wheelchair.

Do you play the piano? Our residents would love to listen to you play while they wait for our dining service to begin. Musicians needed daily at 11-12:30 and 3:30-5. Come put smiles on the faces of our residents.

Individual volunteers would commit to volunteering once a week or once a month on a consistent day.

Purpose:

To provide sensory and emotional stimulation, relaxation, and pain- relief by assisting with the preparation of the lotion mixed onsite and used throughout our care center.

This opportunity could be as few as two times a year and as much as monthly, depending of the level of commitment that the volunteer has. Lotions will most likely need to be mixed on-site once every 3-6 months.

Did you know that the parts of the brain where musical memories are stored are virtually untouched by dementia??? You can help us provide sensory and emotional stimulation, relaxation, and enjoyment by assisting with the preparation and maintenance of our music and memory equipment.

Currently we have approximately 50 residents in our Music and Memory program. As residents come and go, ipods will have to have contents deleted and added to be specific to the listening needs of each individual resident. Because we are unable to predict the frequency or time of these changes – this opportunity is an on-call position. When we are aware of a change that will be happening, the volunteer will be reached out to by staff and a time will be arranged for you to come in that is convenient for your schedule.

We are looking for individuals who are interested in volunteering as a one-on-one visitor to residents. Chat in a resident's room, take a walk on our campus, play cards, help with reading or writing, etc.

30-90 minutes per week, flexible scheduling

We are looking for a person with a great presence to call bingo with our residents in our Assisted Living building. There are currently two times available:

Every other Saturday at 1 pm.

Every Monday at 1 pm.

Volunteer will serve as caller and lead the activity, most of the time without staff present.

Must be 18 or have an adult with you.

We are looking for a volunteer or volunteers to help us tell the story of Bloomington through photographs. We have a set of historic photographs from around Bloomington, MN that we would like a volunteer to to short narratives on each photograph. The narrative will then be hung next to the photograph in one of our hallway galleries.

Would your friends describe you as outgoing, vibrant, vivacious, spirited??? Can you project your voice and have a soft spot for older adults?

We have Bingo on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at approximately 1 pm - times may vary slightly. We are currently only looking for on-call volunteers to fill in for callers when needed.

Watch out, our residents take their Bingo very seriously.

So many questions... Seniors living in our subsidized independent living apartments face so many issues at this stage of life. We would like to be able to provide them a chance to meet with a volunteer to locate community resources that would be beneficial to them.

Residents living in our subsidized independent living apartments have so many issues to think about at this stage of life, a lot of them concerning legal issues. We are looking for an expert in senior legal issues to come out and hold a legal clinic to answer questions once of month or on a quarterly basis.

Our motto is Freedom to Live Well. We have a variety of ways we strive to help our residents Live Well; one of them is by providing a full calendar of activities that they can decide to participate in.

Our Assisted Living is looking for a high-energy, big personality person to lead Thursday afternoon activities the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. Do group crossword puzzles, lead trivia, host a tournament of wii bowling, there are many options that the volunteer could host --- the sky is the limit.

Often times people, especially seniors, can become depressed or anxious in the late winter months and begin to think about decluttering their living spaces. You could help residents tidy their apartment or room while freeing their mind. Come and help a resident with spring cleaning --- you will undoubtly be putting a smile on their face.

Flexible scheduling available. Once a week, Twice a Month, or a One-Time Opportunity.

Available to individuals and small groups. Also great for families!

Late afternoon, evening, and weekends available.

Do you love cinema? So do our residents! Come volunteer to host a movie screening to allow our residents to enjoy cinema in our campus's theater. Prepare popcorn and operate the AV equipment.

Each spring our campus plants a garden in one of our courtyards to allow volunteers, staff, and residents to come together to care for the plants and nurture them to fruition. We are seeking volunteers to help us with all stages of the garden. We'd love to find small groups to come on a regular base through the spring and summer months to help with planning, preparing the bed, planting, and caring for the garden. When food is harvested the produce is used by our culinary team to make nutritious meals for our senior residents.

So many of our regularly scheduled activities are geared towards our women residents, we are looking for men to facilitate groups that would be of interest to our male residents. Come help our male residents feel more fulfilled.

Do you have a love for wood working, history, astronomy, war history, geography, or other things? Would you be interested in doing a 60 to 90 minute demonstration or presentation for our residents?

This can be a one-time activity, quarterly, bi-annually, or annually.
