Volunteer: Field Trips/ Groups AssistantWe have two new openings for Groups Assistant Volunteers! This is a recurring weekly volunteer shift where you will be scheduled for either Wednesday or Thursday mornings 8:45am- 11:45 am. We are asking for anyone interested to be able to commit to at least the next two months until May. Let us know if you're interested in volunteering for either or both days! You will always be scheduled to work alongside group staff. They will ask for your help with any of the following tasks: Welcome groups as they enter the building from their bus(es)Assist the group staff in getting the group settled in their roomShow where coats and lunches can go and have children sit on the carpet for orientation.Help distribute orange stickers after the group staff completes orientation, trained volunteers may also lead orientations.Help direct traffic into the museum as the group is heading onto the floorHave maps handy if an adult asks for oneAssist with groups coming back for lunch – direct them into the correct lunch spaceAssist with groups with departure – direct them into their correct gathering space and thank them for coming as they leave for their bus(es)Any additional duties that the Group Lead may need help with.Please reply to this email if you are interested and available! Volunteer: Museum Props Care & Prep VolunteerHelp keep our exhibits looking their best by supporting the care, cleaning, and preparation of museum props used in our galleries, the Studio, and our Traveling Exhibits. Volunteers will assist with washing props (by hand and dishwasher), preparing exhibit materials, and cutting supplies for Studio activities. This role is based in the basement workshop props area and supports an ongoing cleaning cycle of more than 2,500 items, especially during travelling exhibit changeovers that occur three times each year. There is always something that needs care, so dedicated time and attention make a big impact. Volunteers will follow a documented cleaning guide that includes prop introductions, sink tips, and washing techniques to ensure items are handled properly. Schedule: 1–2 volunteers per shift, Wednesday–Sunday, anytime between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (2-hour minimum shift) Requirements & Ideal Experience: Must wear closed-toed shoes in the workshop Comfortable with hands-on cleaning and prep tasks Food service or dishwashing experience is helpful Great opportunity for those interested in a future props or costumes internship This role is perfect for detail-oriented volunteers who enjoy hands-on work and helping behind the scenes to keep exhibits running smoothly. Assisting in the Art Studio. Greet visitors and introduce the daily activity, help maintain supplies and workspaces, engage visitors in their artwork using museum learning guidelines, and assist facilitators in running special pop-up programs. Assist with prep work for the galleries and The Studio. This could include cutting materials such as paper, fabric, cardboard or yarn down to specific sizes, sorting materials, prepping clay, etc. Play Guide Volunteers choose their shifts online for them to attend Wednesday-Sunday shifts. Each day typically has a morning shift, 10am-1pm and an afternoon shift, 1-4pm. Volunteers also have the opportunity to stack shifts on the same day if they wish to complete more hours for a course requirement in a shorter period or simply wish to extend their shifts.
