Our platelet donation service-hours program provides an accountable, supervised, and dignified way for individuals to complete court-ordered community service while giving back in a meaningful way.

This initiative not only helps individuals meet their service requirements with dignity and purpose — it also strengthens our donor pipeline, increases platelet availability for patients, and positions our organization as a supportive, solutions-oriented community partner.

HElp save lives by picking up and delivering blood and blood products at our donor centers. our local, metro-area hosptial partners and at regional air-ambulance services. We offer and extremely flexible schedule with opportunties available most days of the week. 

Volunteers determine individuals blood type by performing Field Testing of ABOBlood Types on a typing slide. Volunteers work in conjunction with an MBCAmbassador to educate individuals at various events including corporate and community health and volunteer fairs. 

Every mile brings you closer to saving lives. Transport blood to area hospitals and insure that your community hospitals have the blood they need. Valid MN license and good driving record required. Vehicle (mini-van or smaller)provided. Flexible opportunity with volunteers needed almost every day.

Handwritten Thank You Notes are sent to all new Blood Donors. Volunteers at Memorial Blood Centers receive notecards, envelopes, stamps, a list of new Blood Donors as well as sample scripts. Volunteers write and send notes that serve to recognize each donor's contributions, educate them about the need for their gift and encourage them to stay connected to Memorial Blood Centers and continue to donate. Thank you notes can be written by volunteers at a location of their choosing. Memorial Blood Centers recognizes several hundred new donors each month.

Greet Donors and register them at the time of their donation. Staff the reception desk and canteen area of our Downtown Minneapolis Donor Center. Monitor donors post donation and reschedule them for subsequent donations.

Help ensure blood donors’ donation experience is positive by monitoring their well being after their donation, thanking blood donors and serving beverages and snacks. Activities/Duties · Set Up and/or Take Down of Mobile Canteen · Host Canteen · Replenish canteen stock · Observe blood donors for reactions and slow recovery · Alert collections staff if donor has a reaction · Thank the blood donor for their time and contribution · Assist with family members and guests · Assist with small clerical projects or marketing promotions as requested. 3-4 hour shifts will change monthly and schedules are arranged at your convenience.  Parking is reimbursed.

Volunteers staff the reception desk at Memorial Blood Centers Central facility. Volunteers greet visitors, answer phones and direct in-person, telephone and internet traffic referring individuals to appropriate departments within the blood center. Volunteers also assist with clerical tasks. 

Assist our Donor Recruitment department by connecting with current blood donors through phoning, texting or emailing. Connect about scheduling an appointment, confirming an appointment or just to say "Thanks". 

Organize NEW BLOOD DRIVES at your place of employment, place of worship or elsewhere in your community.  Does a group you belong to have the capacity to give?  Drives must include a minimum of 40 registered donors.  Location and times flexible.

Assist in the office.  Help keep things organized and running smoothly.

Promote Memorial Blood Centers to various audiences as a speaker, table host, or blood typing assistant at a variety of events and activities throughout the Metro and Northland regions.  Locations and times vary.

Let your heart do the talking as a donor caller. Friendly volunteers are needed to share important messages and thanks with blood donors. Share a few hours each month and remind blood donors about their ability to help save a life.
